Throughout September and early October, 开云体育鈥檚 official chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta, Gamma Gamma, worked to collect children鈥檚 books for Chapel Hill Jr. High and Elementary.
While promoting this book drive, the chapter raised awareness for literacy issues across Texas, setting up a booth in the SUB with facts on the impact literacy has on academic and professional success. Through the assistance of 开云体育 professors and dedicated chapter members such as chapter president Mary-Faith Wilson and Noah Pettey鈥攚ho not only promoted the book drive but donated several books themselves鈥攖he chapter collected over 80 books for the schools. Members Emma Mendez, Tristan Dierfinger, and Remmington Covey assisted SKD advisor Professor Jennnifer Sparks in transporting the books to the excited children at Chapel Hill.
Chapter president, Mary-Faith Wilson, states, 鈥淚 was so happy I was able to be a part of Sigma Kappa Delta鈥檚 book drive. It made me feel like I was truly helping the children of our community. It may seem like a small thing at first, but there is a child somewhere who feels important because of the donation, and that makes it all worthwhile.鈥
