Filing for Place Three, Place Four and Place Seven on the �������� Board of Trustees will begin on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, and continues through 5 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018. Filing applications are available from elections clerk Maria Razo in the �������� Executive Offices from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays.† The deadline for filing an application will be extended to 5:00 p.m.

The Adult Education Department at �������� is accepting new†and returning†students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs†should call to make an appointment for registration†and/or testing.†While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at†105†N. Riddle Street in Mount Pleasant.

Tuesday night Communities In Schools (CIS) of Northeast Texas hosted Texas State Representative Dr. Gary VanDeaver. He toured the program?s Believes In Dreams Angel Store in Mount Vernon and met with several CIS volunteers and community†members. He took a special interest in how CIS helps area at-risk high school seniors figure out an after-graduation plan through the CAPPED program. The �������� Board of Trustees met Monday for its regular December meeting. The board unanimously voted to appoint Dr. Ron Clinton as president of the college and approved a†four-year†contract for the position.

Clinton was named the sole finalist for president at a special-called meeting November 15. Per state law, the board was required to post notice of hiring a president for 21 days before officially taking action to complete the appointment.
