The �������� Art Department recently hosted a reception to honor the work of 2021-2022 students. The art exhibit/contest is on display in the foyer of the Whatley Center through April 27th. The public is invited to view the free exhibit during regular business hours. Winning works are marked with ribbons.

The �������� Wesley Fellowship Spring Banquet was recently held at Tennison United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant. During the event, the Wesley Fellowship Board of Directors announced that the building is being renamed the John and Janet Bryan Wesley Fellowship Center. They were presented with a plaque to commemorate the honor (pictured). The Bryans, of Naples, were instrumental in founding the �������� Fellowship Center, working to get it constructed and Mr. Bryan remains an active member of the Wesley Fellowship Board. He also served as a member of the �������� Board of Trustees for 20 years.

Recently, the Continuing Education and Corporate Training Department delivered conversational Spanish instruction to employees of Bo Rester State Farm. The training was conducted on site at the location of the business before the team started their day.

Expertise has its own rewards. In the case of history essays at ��������, the reward might be something greater than an ‘A’.  For the seventh straight year, the history professors of �������� will feature the Bonnie Spencer Awards for the best three research papers in non-honors classes.  The first-place winner will receive $100, the second place, $50, and the third, $25.  There could be an Honorable Mention Prize.

�������� recently received notification that its Funeral Service program has been granted a seven-year reaccreditation with the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE). This makes �������� one of only four accreditated funeral service education programs in the state of Texas. Students who graduate from the program with an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in Funeral Services are eligible to sit for their National Board Exams in both funeral directing and embalming.

The theatre department at �������� is pleased to present A Night of Shorts…But Not the Bermuda Kind April 21-23 on the stage of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The production will include five short plays written and directed by Dr. Page Petrucka, �������� Associate Professor of Theatre. 

Saturday afternoon, April 2, if you saw a large number of people in white t-shirts walking or running on campus, you witnessed the awareness portion, a 5K walk/run, of �������� Psi Beta’s event. Psi Beta is the national honor society for psychology for two-year colleges. Psi Beta President, Hilda Rodriguez, welcomed those assembled by thanking them for making the objective of raising awareness of suicide and sharing strategies to prevent suicide possible.  

The �������� Art Department will hold its annual student art show from Friday, April 8th through Tuesday, April 27th in the foyer gallery of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The exhibit will feature over 100 student artworks in design, drawing, ceramics, photography, and digital media.  A reception will be held Wednesday, April 13th in the Whatley Center foyer at 12:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come, meet our amazing students, and enjoy the exhibit. 

Alpha Mu Chi, ��������’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, successfully campaigned for the Texas Region President position at the regional convention earlier this month.  Texas Regional Officers have an amazing opportunity to develop leadership skills as they work with the Regional leadership team to plan and facilitate three regional events, including the Texas Honors Institute held in July, the Texas Leadership Conference held in October, and the Texas Regional Convention held in March. In Texas, chapters run for office and then appoint a chapter member to represent the chapter. This year’s elected member who will serve as Texas Regional President is Jordan Chapin.
