For their performance in two challenging honors seminars at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý in relation to their peers, two Presidential Scholars have recently won $100 checks.
The Official Blues Brothers Revue is coming to the Whatley Center at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý on Monday, Feb. 11. There have been many imitators, but there is only one duo in North America sanctioned by Dan Aykroyd and Judith Belushi to don the official hat and sunglasses and walk in the legendary footsteps of Jake and Elwood Blues.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý recently received a donation of four Stop The Bleed kits from the Northeast Texas Regional Advisory Council (NETRAC). Each kit contains enough supplies to provide immediate first aid for up to 10 patients in the event of a mass casualty scenario. The kits will be placed in central locations around campus. In addition to the kits, NETRAC also provided training materials to be used in training ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Faculty and Staff on how to respond to bleeding patients.
The ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Continuing Education (CE) Department is offering a variety of courses beginning in late January and February. From career training to fun personal enrichment classes, the CE department has something for almost everyone. Below is a list of classes beginning soon:

Just an ordinary freshman year. In 1956-1957. Barbara Conrad from Northeast Texas becomes part of the first cohort of African-American undergraduates at the University of Texas. A mellifluous soprano, she wins the star role in the spring opera as Dido.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. We will resume regular hours and the spring semester will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

The first week of classes can be a stressful time in the life of a college student. To help alleviate this stress, and to encourage students to meet new people, we have planned a Welcome Back Social for students, faculty and staff. The ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program recently learned that all 13 of its December 2018 graduating class passed their professional licensure exam on the first try. Upon graduating with their Associate of Applied Science degree in PTA, graduates are required to sit for the NPTE Board Exam before starting their professional careers.
The ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Foundation recently received $91,000 from the U.S. Department of Education to match contributions to the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý endowment in 2018. These funds are part of the Title V grant, which has money allotted for matching gifts over a five-year period.
