¿ªÔÆÌåÓý is mourning the loss of one of its own this week as longtime employee Pat Tallant passed away suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 29th 2023. The ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Foundation has established a scholarship fund in her memory. The ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Board of Trustees met for its regular October meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 31st. All six members were present. The seventh seat on the board is currently vacant, as Dr. Dan McCauley retired from his position in September. McCauley was on the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Board since 1988 and was the longest-serving trustee in the college’s history.

The ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Rodeo Team has been busy the last week with Rodeos on back to back weekends. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý hosted the third Rodeo of season October 20-21 at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association Arena and then went to McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana October 26-28.
Texas A&M University Texarkana at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý will host Eagle Express events on November 2nd and 8th at the TAMUT office (UHS 113) on the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý campus. The transfer event will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and all prospective students are invited to attend.
TAMUT staff will provide assistance with applications, registration, FAFSA, etc. There will also be snacks provided! Bring your own laptop to expedite the process. There is no application fee and everyone who applies or registers during the event will be entered into a drawing for a prize.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý held an Open House and Ribbon Cutting event on Thursday, Oct. 19th to celebrate its new Health Sciences Simulation Center.
The state-of-the-art facility opened in August for the Fall 2023 semester and offers health science students the opportunity to receive hands-on training in a realistic setting. It is housed in the former Physical Fitness Annex building on the north side of the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý campus that had been in disrepair for a number of years.
Shooting "zombies" was just one of the fun games available at Scare Affair.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý held its 35th annual Scare Affair Halloween event on Saturday, Oct. 21st. Scare Affair is the college's top fundraising event of the year for student organizations. Almost $7,500
The ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Continuing Education Department will begin accepting applications for the 2024 Firefighter Academy on November 1st. Classes begin January 16th, 2024 and will be held at the Mount Pleasant Central Fire Station. The program meets on evenings during the week and on alternating Saturdays.
The ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Art Department hosted an artist reception featuring Rebecca Pelley McWatters on Thursday, Oct. 26th. McWatters, who lives near Fort Worth, has been featured in the Whatley Center foyer gallery for the month of October. During the reception, she spoke about the inspiration behind her art and her overarching theme of "Paint Life Boldly."
