Alpha Mu Chi, ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý?s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, recently attended the Texas Regional Convention in Houston and came away with a chapter-record 30 awards.

The ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Eagle newspaper staff recently attended the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) conference at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Dallas. Students attended sessions on various journalism topics, participated in live contest events and attended the annual TIPA awards banquet.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý won Overall Excellence Division 6 in both the newspaper and literary magazine categories. In total, the students won 47 awards, including several first-place awards for photography, writing and design.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý recently received the Tree Campus USA Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation.

J.T. and Kaye Brison recently gave $3,000 to sponsor the upcoming performance of The Bellamy Brothers at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý. Tickets to the April 9th concert are still available at or by calling the box office at 903-434-8181. The cost is $30 for adults and $10 for students. The annual ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Student Art Show is April 5-24, 2018. This is a call for ALL students to bring their art to share with the college community.

The art can be 2D or 3D. †The art can be something you have done in a class or something done†on†your own time.

Alpha Mu Chi, ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý?s chapter of Phi Theta†Kappa, earned national acclaim as one of four chapters to win the 2018 Honors Case†Study Challenge competition. Tied to the larger Phi†Theta Kappa Honors in Action research project, the Case Study Challenge†competition gives chapter members an opportunity to focus their attention on a†specific area of study.

The challenge encourages individual members and†chapters of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society to use newspapers as a study aid and to remain aware of current events.
