Robin Sharp recently gave $1,000 on behalf of Guaranty Bank to sponsor a student in the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý pilot Work Scholarship Program this summer. Sistrunk family gives $2,000 for ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Work Scholarship Program

Pat and David Sistrunk of Tyler recently gave $2,000 to the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Foundation. The gift will sponsor two students in the college?s new Work Scholarship Program. The program allows students the opportunity to volunteer to work at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý doing meaningful work (preferably in a field related to their major) and earning credit (in the form of a scholarship) towards their future college expenses. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Softball to host skills camp

The ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Eagles Softball staff will host a three-day skills camp June 16-18 at Eagle Field on the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý campus. The camp is open to players ages 5-14. It provides a way to learn and improve on all necessary skills in a structured and scientifically proven system. Games, challenges and prizes will be included to provide a fun and positive experience for all campers. The camp will run from 8 a.m. to noon daily.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý to offer Medication Aide course

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý will host a Medication Aide Course this summer beginning Monday, June 9.†This course is 144 hours and provides instruction in preparation administration of designated medications by non-licensed nursing personnel employed in licensed health care agencies. It also teaches the responsibilities associated with such administration.†There will be two orientation sessions.

Automotive program holds Carroll Shelby Memorial Cruise

The Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý honored the memory of its benefactor last weekend with the 2014 Shelby Memorial Cruise. It was a beautiful day for a cruise to celebrate a life well lived. Car and bike enthusiasts gathered at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý and then†cruised to Leesburg (Shelby's hometown) and the Leesburg Cemetery. Pastor Dominic Crescimanno (Brother Dom) had some inspirational words about Mr. Shelby and life. The group then†cruised the back roads where Mr. Shelby grew up.

TRMC Auxiliary gives allied health scholarships

The Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC) Auxiliary recently donated $4,500, which will provide six $750 scholarships to benefit students at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý majoring in an allied health field. Texas Pioneer Foundation gives $200,000 to three-college consortium project

Representatives from Kilgore College, ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý (¿ªÔÆÌåÓý) and Texarkana College recently gathered on the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý campus in Mount Pleasant to receive a $200,000 grant from the Texas Pioneer Foundation. The three colleges were awarded the money to†support the†creation of a†consortium†to promote student†success and†college efficiency.

The consortium was organized as an innovative way to upgrade to a new student information system as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.

Webb chapter Northeast earns best-in-state honorary cords

The Northeast Texas Webb Chapter, part of the collegiate student auxiliary of the Texas State Historical Association, earned special gold-red-black cords for graduation this spring.† They were the only chapter in the state that won both a Caldwell Group Award, and a Chapter Award in the last two years.

Ashley Laureano earns J. Travis Jackson GED Scholarship

Ashley Laureano (center)†of Mount Pleasant, was recently†presented with the J. Travis Jackson†GED†Scholarship during the†2014†GED graduation ceremony hosted by the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Adult Education Department.†This $500 award is given by the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club in memory of Jackson, who was a long time adult educator in Titus County.†Making the presentation is Malik Latif (left), President of the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club and Carolyn Pope, GED Instructor.
