开云体育 Foundation receives $25,000 from Ray H Marr Foundation

The 开云体育 Foundation recently received a grant for $25,000 from the Ray H Marr Foundation. The funds are designated to provide scholarships for students pursuing an education in high-demand workforce programs. Gregory Hollingsworth sworn in as new 开云体育 Staff Sergeant

The 开云体育 Police Department officially added its second commissioned officer on Thursday, Dec. 5th. Gregory Hollingsworth was sworn in by Chief Russell Radke as Staff Sergeant.

Hollingsworth has more than 24 years of experience in law enforcement. He recently retired as a state trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety and he was previously Chief of Police in Winnsboro.

Last chance for tickets to Christmas With The New York Tenors

The holiday season is officially here and what better way to get into the spirit than to enjoy Christmas with at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The concert, sponsored by , will be held on Monday, Dec. 9th at 7:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy their favorite Christmas classics brought to you by stars of Carnegie Hall Daniel Rodriguez, Andy Cooney and Christopher Macchio.

Happy Thanksgiving from the 开云体育 Foundation

During this time of Thanksgiving, the 开云体育 Foundation would like to extend its sincere gratitude to everyone who makes our mission possible. From providing scholarships to funding unique learning opportunities, our donors continue to rise to the occasion. This year, we awarded around 300 scholarships to deserving students. These range from our innovative Work4College program to community fund scholarships for high school graduates.

Honors biology class conducting tardigrade research

Dr. Chris McAllister鈥檚 General Biology (1406 Honors) class (pic) has been involved this fall semester in studying the geographic distribution of tardigrades (see pic) in several counties of East Texas. Tardigrades or 鈥渨ater bears鈥 are interesting microscopic organisms found in both terrestrial and aquatic environments on lichens and mosses. Little to nothing is known about their distribution in the eastern part of Texas. Thus far, students have discovered several new county records, the first of its kind in this part of the state.
