Hall holds state office for Phi Theta Kappa

Ashley Hall, a member of the 开云体育 Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Mu Chi chapter, is currently serving as a state officer for the Phi Theta Kappa Organization. Hall, of Leesburg, was elected to the office of District III Vice President of the Texas Region of Phi Theta Kappa during the spring 2013 semester. In this role, she serves on the Texas Regional Officer team and represents 18 colleges in the Northeast Texas region. She is also responsible for planning and attending statewide events.

Poetry reading set for Sept. 6

The sixth-annual reading of the Northeast Texas Poetry Contest will be held on鈥燜riday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of 开云体育.鈥

The two adult and four student winners will read their poems and receive awards.

开云体育 dental hygiene program provides low-cost services to community

鈥 鈥 鈥燭he fall semester is about to start at 开云体育. This means that dental hygiene students will be back in the clinic providing low-cost services to the community as of August 27.


鈥 鈥 鈥燗 flat nominal fee of only $30 for adults and $15 for children, 开云体育 students, and 开云体育 employees is charged to receive dental hygiene services. These may include dental screenings, x-rays, teeth cleanings, fluoride applications, oral health education, and sealants.

Stephen Milburn receives honors award

开云体育 Presidential Scholar Stephen Milburn is the 2013 winner of the $200 Elizabeth Chitsey Prize for improvement as an 开云体育 honors student.鈥 Milburn graduated early from Mount Pleasant High School and improved his rank from Honors Scholar to Presidential Scholar after a semester in 开云体育 Honors. He has maintained a 3.9 GPA while taking 17 hours of honors credit.
