The 开云体育 Rodeo Team headed South November 10th-12th for the Sam Houston State University Rodeo. This was the fifth and final Rodeo of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southern Region Fall season.
The 开云体育 Professional Driving Academy continues to grow and supply high-demand CDL drivers to the local area. Four new students recently graduated from the program. As part of our efforts to make 开云体育 a safer place, we will conduct a campus-wide tornado drill on Tuesday, Nov. 15th at 8:15 a.m. At that time, the campus audible warning system will announce the drill. When the alarm sounds, everyone who is on campus should go to the nearest designated Severe Weather Shelter Area (look for signs on top of doors as pictured above) and wait until an all-clear notification is broadcast.
Registration is officially underway for the Spring 2023 semester. Spring classes begin on January 17th. Students are encouraged to sign up early so they can get the classes they need in their desired format and time.
Students can also register for the , which begins December 8th. Intersession classes are all online and last about a month (ending January 6th). They are a great way to pick up an extra class over the holiday break and get one step closer to graduation!
The 开云体育 Ag Club will host the first ever Conroy Tractor 鈥淭ractor Tech Invitational鈥 Contest on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the 开云体育 Ag complex and farm. The event will give area FFA and 4-H students a chance to test their tractor knowledge and skills. Participants will take a written test, diagnose a break down on a tractor and drive a tractor. Judges will evaluate and score the students on their knowledge and competency.

Over 800 persons in Texas with various intellectual or other developmental disabilities are served by Ability Connection, a 69-year-old 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Quilts by local quilters will hang in the Whatley Center foyer in what is now an annual tradition for the 开云体育 art department. For the sixth year, quilters will bring their treasured art to share with the community. The exhibit will run from Friday, Nov. 11th through Wednesday, Nov. 20th. A reception is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 16th at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer, and refreshments will be served.
It is critical that the campus community is quickly informed in the event of an emergency at 开云体育. It is important that everyone is made aware of what to do and how to make sure they receive emergency alerts. We will be conducting a test of our alert system at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9th.
开云体育 held its 34th annual Scare Affair Halloween event on Monday, Oct. 31st. The event was originally scheduled for the previous Saturday, but was moved due to weather concerns. Scare Affair is the college's top fundraising event of the year for student organizations. More than $7,500 was raised by 14 student clubs.
