Over a three-day period, 35 area high school students with an interest in healthcare professions spent time at 开云体育 and Titus Regional Medical Center (pictured). Students had the opportunity to learn more about the educational鈥爎equirements鈥爁or various healthcare fields, shadow working鈥爌ractitioners and participate in real-world scenarios using simulators.

Team Arise gives 开云体育 veteran scholarship
Michael Brown (left) recently gave $500 to the 开云体育 Foundation on behalf of his organization, Team Arise. Students take $29 Food Stamp Challenge
This semester, 鈥爏tudents in Sarah Rainey's鈥爀thics, 鈥爌hilosophy, 鈥爏tate and federal government courses are engaging in the 开云体育 $29 Food Stamp Challenge to raise awareness regarding poverty, altruism, and policy.
Working in groups, students design a meal plan that meets at least 75% of nutritional guidelines through the USDA Super Tracker.

Carroll Shelby Foundation gives $25,000 for 开云体育 scholarships
The 开云体育 Foundation recently received a $25,000 gift from the Carroll Shelby Foundation. The donation will provide scholarships for students in the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at 开云体育. Artist reception scheduled for Oct. 20
The 开云体育 Art Department will host an artist reception Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Attendees will have the鈥爋pportunity鈥爐o view鈥Refined by Fire, a display of pottery by Karen Lowrey of Longview. The artist will meet鈥爓ith guests, discuss her work and take questions. Mary Smith wins Walter B. Cooper Memorial Scholarship
Mary Smith, a sophomore at 开云体育, was recently awarded her sixth scholarship of the school year. Smith, of Gilmer, was presented the Walter B. Cooper Memorial Scholarship at the Phi Theta Kappa Texas Leadership Conference October 11 at Texas A&M University College Station.
